Industrial Hygiene
Industrial hygiene services are provided by a highly experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene). Credible and defensible methods from NIOSH, OSHA or other standard-setting agencies are used for sampling, when applicable. All analytical work is conducted by American Industrial Hygiene Association accredited laboratories. In order to address employee complaints, address regulatory requirements or to set a baseline, Industrial Hygiene Support can conduct both qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene assessments, check compliance and assist in developing a plan to mitigate plan risk.
Noise Monitoring
Over exposure to high noise levels in the workplace can lead to hearing loss. Many laboratory, industrial and support operations may require a noise assessment. A good rule of thumb is the ability to carry on a conversation without having any difficulty. If you have to raise your voice or struggle to understand a colleague, action may be required. Industrial Hygiene Support can conduct noise monitoring and compliance checks as well as assist in the development and implementation of a hearing conservation program.
Ergonomic Services
Manual handling and ergonomic injuries, including back injuries and cumulative trauma disorders, account for more than half of all workers' compensation claims. Industrial Hygiene Support can review your injury records to look for injury trends and ensure appropriate controls are in place. Industrial Hygiene Support can also conduct ergonomic assessments as well as train staff to conduct their own ergonomic assessments (they typically have the greatest task knowledge as well as control ideas).
Biosafety
Working with biological materials presents some unique challenges. Whether your organization is confronting the bloodborne pathogens requirements associated with an emergency response team or you're running a Biosafety level 3 laboratory, Industrial Hygiene Support can help ensure your organization is appropriately addressing the environmental, health and safety risks. In addition to bloodborne pathogens exposure control requirements and the new airborne infectious disease regulations, Industrial Hygiene Support can assist compliance with CDC/USDA Select Agent Regulations, CDC BMBL guidelines as well as the NIH guidelines. An “Agent-Host-Activity” philosophy is used assess risks and develop appropriate controls.
